1917-22 Russian Civil War
After centuries of tzarist rule over Russia, the pressures of WWI fostered a revolution that saw the Romanov monarchy toppled and the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic established in 1917. From 1917 to 1922, all over the vast territories of the former Russian Empire, armies of the main factions of Whites (Conservative forces), Anarchists, Polish and Ukrainians, along with interventionist foreign powers, fought against the Bolsheviks in an attempt to establish their own view of a future Russia. This series of conflicts was described by Churchill as the Pigmy Wars, despite being more international than WWI and its outcome would shape the 20th Century.
